Grade 6 Graduates
We are very happy to announce that all of our Grade 6 students have been accepted into their first choice of secondary schools with no rejected applications.
Included in the list is Canadian Academy (4 students) and the highly competitive Ashiya International School (1 student).
Well done Grade 6!

- Just a reminder, for families who will not be with us next year the withdrawl deadline is April 30th (please see parent handbook for details).

Online Learning
We wanted to let you know that here at DSKI we may be on an island but we are not alone.

We joined a conference this week with other IB schools in Japan and Korea, to exchange ideas and support each other as a community of IB educators, as our online teaching experience continues to develop.

We would like to let you know that our impression was we are very much at the front of the field in terms of our approach and style of learning. Our live lessons time is higher than most schools and they were very interested in our Early Years and pre-kindergarten approach. Mr Waites invitation for parents to join his class was unique and other schools will copy this!

Your comments are very important to us.
Please do get back to us here with any comments you may have.

Live Lessons Being Recorded
As you will have seen, we are using live lessons more and more.
Please note - we will be recording these so that any students who have missed the lesson can watch it later or if a student wants to watch the lesson again at a slower pace, they can do so.

  • These lessons wont be published or circulated, they will only be used for the class community.
  • Please do not share to anyone.

If you are not happy about your child being recorded please let your teacher know and just switch of the camera on your side.

If you have any concerns or questins please dont hesitate to contact us in the office.

All applications and software we use have their security and data protection policies fully checked. We only use 3rd party software that is compliant with Japanese law or European GDPR data protection legislation, as Japan and the EU have a reprocial agreement.

Yard
We are very happy to announce that our new school yard is now finished and ready for use.

We would like to thank the Kubo family very much for their sponsorship, and donation. We very much appreciate it and we are sure there will be many happy students in years to come who can enjoy playing on the yard due to their very kind generosity!

It is a shame we couldn't hold a formal opening ceremony but when we come back we will arrange a special event to mark the occasion.

Sports
We would like to say to any parents who are interested, please feel free to join in Mr Waite's live lessons! It is for the students but you are very welcome to step into the frame and join with your children for some good excercise.

You are also welcome to come and borrow kit from school if it helps you, just sign call in and sign it out at the office.

School Doctor
We are very happy to announce that we have agreed to sign a contract with Dr Masatoki Adachi, who some of you may know already, to be our new school doctor. It isn't due to the coronavirus, we were arranging this anyway, but of course the timing is very good. He has been consulting with our school administration regarding coronavirus health and safety precautions and policy development.

He will be in school offering child check ups and working with our staff on emergency procedures and first aid training.

He is also available for private consultation

Interns
We are very sad to have to say that due to the current coronavirus situation, three of our interns have decided to return to Germany. They were asked to return by the German government due to health security reasons.

However we are happy to say that Felicity has decided to stay on here in Japan with us for the rest of the school year.
