Parent Cafe - IB Evaluation Visit Report
23rd February
1.00pm

We would like to offer a Parent Cafe meeting about our IB evaluation report based on the IB visit last year. We received very positive feedback from the IB visiting team and a very good report.

Quote from the IB -

The evaluation report highlights many strengths as well as some suggestions for further development that should support you in strengthening your programme over time.

We have been working on developing our four year action plan which will take us up to the next visit from the IB in 2025. We have built into this what we want to achieve as a school and also the recommendations from the IB.

We would like to share the evaluation report and our action plan with you and also hear your ideas and feedback.

Please join us if you can.

Semester 1 Student Reports
28th January
Three Way Conferences
31st January - 4th February
Online

You will soon be receiving an invitation from your teacher to sign up for a three way conference. This is a very important part of our assessment and reporting process as well as working with our students, giving them agency for their learning.

We will be adjusting the style though as it will be difficult to have online conferences during school time. Instead your child will pre-record a video reflecting on the year so far and describing their aims and objectives for the coming months. Parents and teachers will watch this together and hear your child's input and thoughts.

Welcome Back
We hope all our families had a good vacation and we welcome everyone back for a rather cold first week...

Photographer Wanted
We are looking for someone who could do the student photos for our school yearbook. If you are interested or know someone you could recommend please could you just add a name here.
Please note, interested people need to have prior training and/or been published by a third party online or in paper publications.

After School Clubs
We are going to pause our club planning for two weeks to see how the covid infection numbers develop. It is of course very frustrating and we do apologize but in this uncertain time we need to make sure we take all precautions. We will review it at the end of February and if the situation is better we will begin clubs shortly after that.

Congratulations to two of our staff members!
Ms d'Amours
We are very pleased to say that Ms d'Amours was accepted by the International Baccalaureate (IB) and has successfully completed the course to become an IB World Schools teacher trainer. She will be running online workshops for staff at schools around the Asia Pacific region and when the world opens up, visiting other IB schools to run weekend or holiday training sessions for their staff.

Many teachers apply and don't get accepted. Those that do are not guaranteed to pass the course, so Ms d'Amours has done extremely well and we are all very proud of her achievement!

Ms Hanna
Miss Hanna Martina Moriguchi, our DSKI teacher assistant celebrated her Seijinshiki, Coming-of-age Ceremony, in Kobe on the 10th January 2022.

Ms Hanna started her career at DSKI as a kindergarten student15 years ago back at the old site. We are very happy to have seen her grow into the mature young lady we have working now at DSKI as our teaching assistant in primary school.

Congratulations on your special day, Hanna and best wishes for your future!
