STEM Week: Sustainable Cities for the Future
18th - 23rd May

STEM Week Exhibition for Parents

Friday 23rd May

Every year we have a special STEM week where we spend 5 days looking at a STEM problem and challenging our students to come up with a solution!

This year's STEM Week - our students will be exploring sustainable cities from waste management to renewable energy sources and green spaces.

What is special about them?
How do they work?
What makes them sustainable?

The challenge we will them pose the is to come up with their own design of a sustainable city.
Each grade will be working on one aspect of this and as a school, together creating a full scale model of the city!

Invitation from our Friends at Canadian Academy
We would like to extend an invitation to you to attend a special film screening of Landscapes of Home on Tuesday, April 22nd, from 5:00pm to 6:30pm at Canadian Academy.

Landscapes of Home explores the lives of two doctors, Henry Ryusuke Shibata and Stuart Cooper Robinson (a former CA student), whose worlds are disrupted by WWII. Shibata endures internment in Canada, while Robinson is uprooted from Japan. The documentary highlights their resilience and reflects on the Japanese-Canadian experience, redefining the meaning of home amid war, displacement, and loss.

We believe this film may resonate with many international families here in Kobe, whether they call Kobe home, or a home away from home. As international schools in Japan, we believe this is a story worth sharing, and would like to welcome DSKI to engage with this important historical narrative and reflect with us on the global themes present in the film, including war, peace, and resilience. You may view a brief trailer here. A poster for the film is also attached.

Event Details:
  • Date: Tuesday, April 22nd
  • Time: 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM
  • Location: Canadian Academy Main Theater
  • Tickets: Tickets are 500 yen per person, with all proceeds going to supporting our Arts Program. Reserve your tickets here.

Director Alice Shin and Producer Eiko Kawabe Brown will also be present, hosting a Q&A session at the end of the 55-minute feature.
