Book Sponsoring from the German Consulate

Dear parents,

We are happy to announce that the German Consulate in Osaka offered us the opportunity to sponsor much needed German books for our children, especially in EY. The books have all arrived and are already being used in our classrooms and in the library.

We would like to thank all members from our DSKI community involved in the process and from the Consulate for making this all possible and hope for more opportunities to partner up in the future.

Please help us return the favour by checking out and sharing the German Consualte’s homepage and social media channels. Thank you very much!

Letter from Mr Huber - Thankyou for the Sponsor Run Donation!

Dear parents,

We wanted to extend our heartfelt gratitude for organizing the Sponsor's Run event that made it possible for us to acquire the fantastic Artec Robo 2.0 robotics and programming kit for our students from K1 to Grade 5&6. Your support has opened up a world of creative learning opportunities for our young minds.

The Artec Robo 2.0 kit will become an integral part of our STEM room, fostering hands-on learning experiences for our students. Within this innovative tool, students will engage in a wide range of activities, from designing and building robots to exploring the principles of programming and electronics. This kit empowers them to apply their knowledge in a practical context, sparking curiosity, collaboration, and critical thinking. It encourages students to experiment, problem-solve, and think creatively, aligning perfectly with our STEM room's mission to inspire a lifelong passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The Artec Robo 2.0 seamlessly aligns with our PYP units of inquiry, enriching our students' learning experiences across various subject areas, transdisciplinary themes and concepts. The learners will find opportunities to integrate robotics and programming into their inquiries. They can design robots and electronic tools and create solutions for real-world problems. The learners will use the kit as a tool to understand how technology impacts our lives. This connection enhances our PYP curriculum by offering a dynamic platform for hands-on, inquiry-based learning.

The introduction of the Artec Robo 2.0 kit enhances the delivery of our IT curriculum at DSKI. Students will learn to code, program, and operate their robotic creations. This hands-on experience not only develops their technical skills but also nurtures critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. The integration of robotics and programming aligns with the core principles of our IT curriculum, enabling students to explore computational thinking, algorithms, and coding concepts pairing their learning with creativity. Our strong IT curriculum prepares our students at DSKI for the digital age, ensuring they are well-equipped to navigate the technology-driven world with confidence.

Once again, we express our deepest appreciation to all of you and for your unwavering support in making this valuable learning resource available to our students. The Artec Robo 2.0 kit will undoubtedly inspire a new generation of young inventors, programmers, and engineers at DSKI and we will hopefully be able to expand our Artec resources in the future.

Thank you for your dedication to enhancing the educational experiences of our students.

Mr Benjamin Huber

IT Coordinator
