School Lunch Order
Deadline 
 Wednesday, December 13
We will continue to have a catered school lunch from Pizzeria del Rokko.
This time the lunch period will be between January 9 and March 29, 2024.
Orders can only be processed after payment has been made and confirmed.
Please be aware that in case of the absences or sickness of the child during the period the fee cannot be refunded.
The lunch will not come with chopsticks or fork. Your children need to bring them from home.
 
Early Years and Pre-School
The Early Years and Pre-School childrens lunch is Y500 each and the total cost is Y26,000

The G 1 and G 2 childrens lunch is Y600 each and the total cost is Y31,200.
The G 3 ~ G 6 childrens lunch is Y600 each and the total cost is Y29,400.

The Christmas holidays are almost here. To celebrate the season of giving, you and your family are invited for a Christmas market event at the DSKI campus. Activities, crafts, food items will be available in the market to raise funds for charity and the PTA.

A Big Congratulations 
To our DSKI Dodgeball team who won an inter-school competition hosted at Marist Brothers International School this week. 
Well done team, great job!





Music Concert

Please come and join us for some music with a concert for students by violinist Ms.Ishibashi and pianist Ms Okada.

We will have an introduction to the instruments and some music to enjoy, parents are very welcome to join us in the multi-purpose room.

If you are interested in baking a cake, cookies or any other type of baked good to sell at the Christmas Market on the morning of December 15 please let your class PTA know by December 1st. 


Proceeds from the bake sale will go to the PTA for upcoming events and activities. 


We kindly ask you to please avoid using any nuts. Please also include a note if your baked good includes any of the following allergens: chickpeas, eggs, dairy (or in the unlikely event shellfish). 


Baked goods can be brought to the main hallway of the school after drop off on the morning of December 15.

Healthy Urban Gardening

We would like to invite everyone to join us at our second HUG Project at DSKI. The Healthy Urban Gardening is a collaborative work between ACCJ Kansai and DSKI. The aim is to complete a cycle of planting and harvesting healthy produce that will be donated to Food Bank Kansai for the less income family in the area. 

In addition, there will be different presentations and activities to spread awareness about sustainability and change through a healthy GREEN advocacies.

We would like to once again invite all our families to come in and see our school at work. It is a great opportunity for parents of younger children to see what the older children do in our upper grade levels. 

So parents of early years, please take a look in our primary school and lower primary parents please do feel free to have a walk around upper primary school!

As part of our programme we will also run an information meeting where we can show you how we assess and track students progress in English and maths and how we support the students who need help.

Message from our advent calendar team

Dear families,


Hope you enjoyed St.Martin’s Day.


9 volunteers are needed to help us make  9 Christmas Advent Calendars (1 calendar per class from Pre-Kindergarten to G5/6). Photos attached. We already have the ideas and some experience of previous years and we just need crafty hands. Let's enjoy and bring Christmas to our kids together . 

No experience needed, any language is ok. We are planning to work in 3 groups (3 people for 3 calendars in each group). Approximate time per group: 3-4 hours. Time/ date will be scheduled this week upon your sign-ups. 

Advent Calendar making  will be between November 13 - 24 during school hours.


The advent calendars will be presented to the kids on November 27 Monday. From November 28 they will open 1 envelope with a surprise each day till School Christmas day December 15.

Raclette Party with visit from Saint Nicholas 2023

Dear Members and Friends,

The Swiss Society of the Kansai cordially invites you to our annual Raclette Party with a special visit from Santa Claus to be held on:


Sunday, December 3, 2023, 15:00 – 19:00

at the Kobe Regatta and Athletic Club (KRAC)


This event is open to all members, friends of the Swiss Society and their guests. Let’s get together to say hello to Santa and wind down the old year with a “Raclette”, a very traditional Swiss dish. This is a popular event and seating is limited.

English Club for Adults

Two more adults are needed to run English lessons (Intermediate level) on Wednesdays at DSKI from 13:15 to 15:15 (2 hours with a 5-minute break). 


22 000 yen till the end of Term 1 (January 29). A group of 4 people minimum.

For those who can talk but would like to enrich the spoken/ written English with words and grammar, be more confident with speaking/ listening. 


Your friends are more than welcome, as it is not necessary to be a DSKI parent. Please share with those who may be interested.  Thank you!

Calling all musicians!
We are looking for any parents or friends of parents who play an instrument and may be interested in doing some short musical performances with our students. No professional experience required, just a willingness to enjoy some musical time.


Sankt Martin
November 10th
5.00pm on the school yard
On Friday, November 10th, we are going to celebrate St.Martins' Day with a short play, songs and a Lantern March. We will meet in the school yard at 5 pm in the afternoon when it is getting dark outside.

Important: Please note that parents must accompany their child/children during the event as it takes place outside school hours. After school child care is available until the beginning of the event at 5 pm.

The official event will finish as soon as we return to school from the Lantern March but there will be hot childrens’ punch and mulled wine waiting for you outside of school, kindly being sponsored.

- Please note that this is a school event and so there is after school child care available until the beginning of the event at 5.00pm for families who need it.

Halloween
31st October
We would love to see your children in their fantastic costumes again! There will be awards for the best homemade, spookiest and class favourite costume. 
(It is ok to either come to school in costume or change here).

The children will have the opportunity to trick or treat and show their costumes to the other classes. 

If you would like your child to bring their own trick or treat bag, they are more than welcome to do so.

Cross Country
Grade 3 - 6
Friday 3rd November
10.00am - 12.30pm
Green Belt on Rokko Island
We are happy to invite all parents of Grade 3 - 6 to our cross country event.
Please make sure that your child wears the school t-shirt, has a hat, an extra water bottle, a coat to keep warm when not running and a nice, healthy snack. 
 
The students will meet at school at 8.30am as usual and move to Rokko Park at 9.30am. Parents should join us at 10.00am at the meeting point.
 
At 12:30pm the children will return to school to eat their lunch and at 1.15pm we will continue with the normal school schedule. Clubs will be running as usual after school until 4.35pm.



German / Japanese Film Festival
3rd November

In the run-up to the 150th anniversary of the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Osaka-Kobe, this year's "German Film Festival in Osaka" is dedicated to the lives and work of strong women. Four German films with female protagonists will be shown, followed by a panel discussion with female directors from Germany and Japan.

Entry is free, but registration on the website is required. It is possible to register for more than one film or for both films and the panel event. A confirmation will be sent to your registered email address.
