Looking for an activity to do during Golden Week?

It's time again for our annual yearbook cover contest. Every year students can submit a design and the winner will be the one chosen as the cover of the school yearbook 2023.

The design should be in colour, on A4 paper using the theme Inquirer.

Please submit all designs to your homeroom teacher by May 9th.

Sponsor Run

Friday 19th May

9.00am - 12.00pm

Our first sponsor run will be happening soon - we aim to raise 100, 000 yen which we will use to purchase exciting robotic equipment for our STEM room, which everyone can enjoy.

All students will be taking part and we encourage parents to come along and run as well (you can buy a school shirt to run in here)!

Schedule

9.00am - 10.00am Early Years

10.00am - 11.00am Lower primary (Preschool - Grade 2)

11.00am - 12.00pm Upper Primary (Grade 3 - 6)

Please just come along to the Green Field at the time of your childs session.

We will use a 1 coin - 1 lap system, so when a child completes a lap, they can drop a 100yen coin in our collection jar to try and fill it up! 

Parents who join, please help your child. If you cannot join, our teachers will help but please send a maximum of 1000yen in 100yen coins in a sealed envelope with your child on the day.

The DSKI, in collaboration with ACCJ-Kansai Community Service Committee are inviting you to our Healthy Urban Gardening Project workshop event. 

The event will feature a range of exciting activities, including:

* Joshua Bryan (OYIS student) presenting a video about his experience in composting and growing vegetables

* "Kiss the Ground" a documentary 

* DSKI PTA team showing how to make cardboard compost boxes

* DSKI team presenting the Raised Planter Bed Vegetable Planting

* Viviana Di Balsi presenting Seed Bomb Workshop and discussing how we can increase green areas in our cities

* Planting activities with children and parents 

This event is also an opportunity to learn more about the Food Bank Kansai where the vegetable harvest will be donated to. DSKI will be the pilot program that aims to complete the community circle and demonstrate the power of local communities coming together to promote sustainable living practice and reduce waste.

Join us at the DSKI HUG Project workshop event and be inspired to take action! Let's work together to create a better, healthier and more sustainable future for all.

We will have a great morning with activities for all our students. Please come along and join us, all parents are welcome.

The school day will be as normal from 8.30am, parents please join us at 9.15am.

The event will finish at 12.50pm and the students will return to their classrooms where they will eat lunch together. From 1.15pm on classes will follow their normal schedule with clubs as usual from 3.30pm to 4.35pm. The school bus will also run as usual.

- Please can we ask all students to wear their school T-Shirt and please don’t forget their water bottles and a hat.

Nobi - Nobi Passport
Going home with students today
Today Grade 1~ 6 children have received a new Nobi-Nobi passport (issued by Kobe city). This lets children visit the institutions on the list for free of charge between April 10th, 2023 and April 7th, 2024. The list in English will be sent by email attachment.

This time Hyogo prefecture‘s Kokoron card has also been handed.

STEM Week
10th - 14th April 2023
We are very excited that it is now less than two weeks to the start of our STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) week, which this year will be centering around “Building a school on the Moon”. 

As part of our STEM week, we would like to invite parents to come into school on Friday 14th April and share the work that the children will produce during the week. Each phase will have the opportunity to come and view the exhibition of the children’s work at the following times: 

8:30am - 10:15am - Early Years Parents and Children

10:45am - 12:15pm - Upper Primary Parents and Children

2:00pm - 3:20pm - Lower Primary Parents and Children

As well as viewing the exhibition, you will also have the opportunity to participate in an exciting, parent-led workshop with your child. 

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at our STEM exhibition.
