Half Day October the 13th
Just a reminder we will close at 1.00pm on Monday due to the Parent Teacher Conferences.

Students will have lunch as normal before going home and the school bus will depart at 1.00pm

Message from the Oktoberfest Team

I sincerely appreciate everyone who attended this year's Oktoberfest despite the unfortunate rain. With 500 sausages, 200 bags of French fries, 300 pretzels, 300 beers, and above all, the smiles of many children and the laughter of adults, I believe it was a great success.

The morning of the event saw numerous sudden changes due to the rain, including relocating activities and shops, and moving chairs and tables that had been set up. However, everyone in charge of their respective areas made the necessary swift decisions and took immediate action. As a result, all activities and shops operated without any problems whatsoever. This was undoubtedly achieved through the decisions and actions of all the parents, teachers, and the school staff. The committee alone could never have made all the decisions or taken all the necessary actions. I extend my heartfelt thanks to all the parents, teachers, and staff who cooperated.

Additionally, although not members of the committee, there are three individuals to whom I wish to extend special thanks. Firstly, Aiko Shino, who planned and executed the wonderful decorations for Oktoberfest. I am deeply grateful for her efforts in lifting the spirits of attendees and making the festival truly enjoyable.

Next, Ayumi Matsuo, who constructed the entire environment. From the preparations the day before to making swift decisions on the spot in response to changes on the day itself, I am truly grateful that you created a space where everyone could enjoy their food, drinks, activities and any other shops.

Finally, this is Juliana, the PTA Chair. The class-specific chat groups established by the PTA are one of the most effective means for sharing information. I would like to express my sincere gratitude for your invaluable contribution to the smooth running and success of the Oktoberfest. By ensuring all parents received the necessary information promptly and accurately, you played a significant part in its success.

Once again, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all those who assisted with the Oktoberfest and offer my appreciation for their hard work. Thank you for your efforts.

Parent Teacher Conferences
October 13th - 17th

You will be receiving an invitation shortly to come in and meet with your homeroom teacher to hear how the start of the year has been. Our specialists will also be available so we do hope you will find the meetings helpful.

Message from the Oktoberfest Team
First, on the day of the Oktoberfest, kindly note that parking on the north side of the school is strictly prohibited throughout the day for any reason whatsoever. Even if you require access for wheelchairs or other disability-related needs, please use the southern roundabout.

On the morning of the Oktoberfest, from 8:00 am, contractors' vehicles will be parked on the road in front of the school to unload and deliver goods to the school premises. As they are transporting heavy goods and machinery, this is extremely hazardous so please do take care!

After 4pm on the day of the Oktoberfest, removal work by contractors will commence.
Therefore, please absolutely refrain from parking your vehicle, including temporary parking for pick-ups.
Furthermore, stopping to converse near the school premises is extremely dangerous.
We kindly request your understanding for the safety of the children.

On the day of Oktoberfest, parking of motorcycles, kick scooters and similar vehicles on the grass area is prohibited.
Many visitors are expected on the day.
To ensure sufficient space and safety for all attendees, we kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation.

Second, this year's Oktoberfest will operate on a ticket exchange system rather than cash transactions.

Therefore, we will hold a pre-sale of tickets for DSK families.
Tickets will be sold at a discount compared to purchasing on the day, so please stop by.
Tuesday, September 30, 2025, 8:30 AM ~ at STEM room.

Message from the School Board
Dear families, we have asked Kobe city about the Toho demolition work you can see they have started.

Please see our questions and their replies here, more information to follow as we receive it.

  • What measures and monitoring are planned to address the impact of dust and noise associated with the construction work?
→ Response: For dust control, we will carry out watering during the work.
For noise control, after the scaffolding is assembled, we will install soundproof sheets.
In addition, regarding noise, we kindly ask you to listen on-site, and if you notice anything, please contact us.

  • Will air quality monitoring devices be installed near the site boundaries?
→ Response: For buildings containing asbestos, we conduct air concentration measurements.
However, since the building in question does not contain asbestos, there are no plans to install air quality monitoring devices.

Oktoberfest 2025
4th October
10.30am - 2.00pm
Message from our Oktoberfest Team!
First and foremost, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who has registered to volunteer and to those who have made donations at this time.

We continue to look forward to your cooperation.

We have created an explanatory document for any unclear points regarding volunteering or donations; please refer to the PDF file.

Next, we will address some frequently asked questions.

Regarding the question about whether shift lengths are fixed at 90 minutes and whether volunteers can choose between morning and afternoon shifts:

The more volunteers we have, the shorter the shifts become.
For example, if only 6 volunteers sign up for BBQ duty, each shift will be 90 minutes. However, if 10 volunteers sign up, each shift will be 60 minutes.
Therefore, we kindly ask that volunteers reach out to others to recruit more helpers. We also ask anyone who sees this blog to spread the word to other parents about volunteering and donating opportunities.

You can register to volunteer here. Please fill in the required information and submit your application.

We expect to have more concrete information to share next Friday.
