DSKI x YouCode Programming Course

About the course and topics

A beginner’s course that sets a solid foundation of the basics of technology and programming using block coding. The course covers fundamental programming concepts such as loops, variables, conditional statements, sequences and more.

Through the duration of the course, students learn to use a Scratch and understand the logical aspect of programming computers. The course is taught in a fun and intuitive way by creating simple video-games, animations and interactive projects.

Our customized curriculum expands on the Scratch platform to engage children in coding activities that reflect their unique interests. Scratch is a kids' programming language developed at MIT. Using virtual "blocks" rather than text, kids learn the logic of coding, complete fun projects and build a strong basis for future learning. The kids will learn to design, implement and test their own animations, stories and games.

About the Online lessons

We offer a convenient online course for DSKI students in which we propose the same curriculum as our in-person classes.

Students can take individual lessons that group lessons of up to 3 students based on their level.

The lessons are done all in English by accessing YouCode's original platform for online classes. Teachers can see the students' computer screens in real time, and students can ask questions and communicate in the same way as in-person classes thanks to webcam and microphone.

Requirements for the online classes

- A laptop or PC (IMPORTANT: No tablets such as iPads)

- Mouse

- Webcam functionality

- Microphone functionality

- Sufficient internet speed

Individual lessons can be highly tailored to the student's pace and level. They offer the best engagement response and student-teacher interaction, making the learning of programming even faster.

About Group Lessons:

Students who make up a group will continue the lessons together throughout the duration of the course, creating a comfortable and open environment for them.

Lessons for the virtual classroom are designed to be interactive, with the instructor involving each student and checking on their projects frequently.

The groups will be planned depending on how many students enroll and on their age. We will notify you in case that it is not possible to form a group of students of the similar age to your kid, and we will invite you to consider taking individual lessons instead.
