STEM Week: Sustainable Cities for the Future
18th - 23rd May

STEM Week Exhibition for Parents

Friday 23rd May

Every year we have a special STEM week where we spend 5 days looking at a STEM problem and challenging our students to come up with a solution!

This year's STEM Week - our students will be exploring sustainable cities from waste management to renewable energy sources and green spaces.

What is special about them?
How do they work?
What makes them sustainable?

The challenge we will them pose the is to come up with their own design of a sustainable city.
Each grade will be working on one aspect of this and as a school, together creating a full scale model of the city!

Crowdfunding to Bring Facility Dogs to Kobe Children’s Hospital
A Special Initiative by a DSKI Parent

Dear School Community,

My name is Aya, and I’m the mother of two children in grades 1 and 3 at DSKI. I work as a pediatric
anesthesiologist at Kobe Children’s Hospital where we are working to introduce a full-time facility dog
to comfort children and their families during their hospital stay!
Facility dogs bring more than just comfort—they bring healing.I believe they should be a standard part of pediatric care. When I visited hospitals with facility dog
programs, the change was amazing when a dog visited them—kids feeling nervous started smiling,
they looked less afraid of medical staff, and families seemed to feel some emotional relief during long
stays.
