We are happy to announce that from March we will be offering 1-1 violin lessons for all DSKI students 

We have a very accomplished violin teacher (Ms Chie Ishibashi) who has performed internationally, including with the German Philharmonic Orchestra who will be on campus Monday, Tuesday and Friday offering private 30 minute lessons (3, 000 yen) for all children from 3 years old to 12 years old, no matter their experience - so beginners okay!

Time slots will be from 8.00am before school up to 12.00pm. So yes, you can book a 1-1 lesson and we will arrange for your child to step out of class to join, so please be aware of the lesson they will miss.

Violins - you may use your own or rent a school violin for an additional fee of 1, 000 yen per lesson.

Expo 2025

We are happy to announce that we are working closely with the German Expo pavilion team and will have student involvement in the event!

DSKI Sports Events

We are happy to announce three sport events that DSKI will join together with other international schools. Very exciting for our students, we will send out more information closer to the dates!

March 15th 

Our Soccer Club will visit the One World International School for a futsal tournament. 

May 15th 

The Soccer Club will join a tournament in the Canadian Academy.

May 31st 

DSKI will host a Basketball Tournament here at DSKI in collaboration with our sponsor the Kobe Storks. Our best basketball players will compete with the U12 team of the Kobe Storks and other international schools.

 A Special Visitor to DSKI

We were very happy to welcome Mr Andrei Ivanovich Moiseenko to our school this week. He is one of the last survivors of the Buchenwald concentration camp and we were very lucky to have him as a guest at our school.

Our students in Grade 4 - 6 met him to hear about his experiences and ask him questions about his life. We were also happy to host some students from Canadian Academy who joined us for the meeting.

Term 2 Club Update Information

Clubs will begin next Monday, February 10th.

Thank you to all who have signed up for student and parents clubs for the 2nd semester. We have a new record number of clubs and participants again this term and many clubs have reached their maximum capacity and some which are very close to reaching it. Unfortunately there were a couple that didn’t reach the minimum as we had to cancel the Chinese Class, Lego for Upper Primary and the Kids Spanish lessons.

For parents, the Japanese for Beginners lessons will go ahead, as will the Tai Chi on Thursday mornings. Both are searching for new members. 

Spanish Class for Parents has been moved to Mondays so if you would like to join but didn’t because Thursdays didn’t work out please consider joining on Monday. If we can get a couple more members the Spanish lessons will go ahead but will potentially start from February 17th.

Term 2 Club Update Information

The early registration/ cutoff date to reach the minimum number of participants will be: Tuesday, February 4th.

Thank you to all who have signed up for student and parents clubs for the 2nd semester. So far we have a good turnout for many of the clubs, but there are still some that are in need of more members in order to reach the minimum number of four students. If they don’t reach the minimum, then we may have to cancel some of the offerings.

Families will be notified of cancelled clubs next Tuesday, January 4th and will still have a chance to join another club.

Confirmation emails will be sent out next week on Thursday and Friday, with clubs starting Monday, February 10th.

Clubs highlighted in RED have only one or no registrants and will be cancelled unless more members join before next Tuesday, February 4th.

The Parents Clubs and Classes are also still hoping for members to join, please check out the activities for parents.

 

Kobe City Visit

This week we were very happy to host Mr Okamoto who is the Kobe City Mayors Office Director and Ms Nakasone, who is the International Department`s Director of International Relations Promotion,

They really liked our school and were very happy to discuss with us how we can collaborate together, providing opportunities for our students to go out on exciting trips to Kobe city facilities and events!

Today was the last day for Term 1 clubs. Thank you to all who enrolled students in clubs throughout the first term.

Please note that there won’t be any after-school clubs for the next two weeks.

New clubs will begin on Monday, February 10th. 

We are happy to announce our club offers for both students and parents. Many of the Term 1 Clubs will continue and several new clubs are being offered. As always we have a wide range of clubs for students of all ages!

I’m a professional football physical coach with over 15 years of experience, working with players across different countries. During my time in Kobe, I had the privilege of being part of the Vissel Kobe team.

Do you like football? Are you currently playing for a team?

If so, I’d like to invite you to try a special group training session designed specifically for football players. This isn’t your typical practice—it’s a focused session to help you improve your physical performance on the pitch.

Session Details:

• Duration: 1 hour

• Fee: ¥6,000

• Group Size: Up to 6 players per session

If you’re interested, don’t hesitate to reach out! Let’s take your game to the next level.

 

Healthy Eating

On a day to day basis at DSKI we have a healthy eating policy. 

Morning snacks and lunches

Please only send healthy snacks and meals into school with your child.

School events and birthday celebrations

We will allow treats with sugar, suitable for the event or festival e.g. at Halloween or Christmas.

You are also welcome to send cakes in for your child's birthday but we would ask that if possible to make

it a healthy eating celebration.

Please note - Prekindergarten is a sugar free zone for all events and birthdays due to the young age of the students.

Gifts for other students

You are welcome to send in edible gifts from holidays overseas etc. but we kindly ask that they are healthy eating gifts - e.g. dried fruit rather than candy - and please no nuts.

Earthquake and Natural Disaster Information and Drill 
22nd January

For new or existing parents who would like to have information about our natural disaster policies, please come along to the STEM room, where we will go over what we will do and where we evacuate in the event of a earthquake / tsunami alert.

Student Evacuation Drill 

10.00am

We will be holding our next natural disaster emergency drill and if we have any new parents to the school who would like to join and see where our evacuation sites are please do feel free. If you would like to do so, please wait outside the school gate and we will meet you there. Just to ask, please kindly stay clear of the students so we can focus on them!

You will soon be receiving an invitation from your homeroom teacher to book a time to come in for a 3-way conference. This is a chance for parents, students and teachers to sit together and discuss the year so far and learning progress. We also want to hear what your child wants to achieve over the rest of the school year and how we can support this, so giving them that agency.
