St Martin
St Martin
November 12th
4.00pm - 5.30pm
Just like the years before we would like to celebrate Saint Martin with the students and parents of our school. There will be a stage play about the legend of Saint Martin and students, parents and teachers will go on a procession on Rokko Island with self-made lanterns.
To have the evening come to a nice end, there will be children’s punch and “Martinswecken” (a traditional pastry) at the school after the procession. According to the tradition of Saint Martin, the children will share their “Martinswecken” with each other.
The schedule will be as follows:
● school children: 3.30 to 3.45 pm: small snack in the classroom
● Early Years children: 3.30 to 4.00 pm: small snack in Early Years
Please don’t forget to give an additional snack to your children in the morning. Parents of children in
Early Years, who are in afternoon care, can pick up their children after the snack at around 4.00 pm.
● 3.45 to 4.15 pm: break time on the playground
● 4.15 pm: stage play by the German Grades
● around 4:45 pm: lantern procession on Rokko Island (around 30 minutes)
● around 5:15 pm: getting together with drinks and “Weckmann”
● 6.00 pm: end of event
Basketball club will happen between 3.40 pm and 4.15 pm. We would like to ask the parents to be at the playground at 4.15 pm to watch the stage play together with the students. If you have a child in Early Years that leaves at 1.00 pm, please return to school together by 4.15 pm. For our lanterns we will use last year’s battery-operated candles and lantern sticks. The candles and lantern sticks will be collected at the end of the event to be used again next year. To ensure that this event will be a successful one, we are asking parents to take responsibility for their children, especially during the lantern walk.
